Saints drop tough game against South Central

Southern Wayne Varsity girls dropped a game against South Central Tuesday night 44-49. Samiya Bess lead the Saints with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Erykah Baldwin scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Alexus Elliott added six points and snagged 10 rebounds, while D’mia Wright scored six points and nine rebounds. Southern Wayne is now 9-7 overall (3-4), and travels to New Bern on Friday.

WayneCountry Day 71, John Paul II 8

Wayne Country Day secured another victory on Tuesday night against John Paul II Catholic school. The Chargers executed their game plan to perfection, and cruised to a 71-8 victory. The Chargers committed a season low six turnovers, and had 16 steals as a team. The Chargers Ja’Kea Brunson led all scorers with 19 points in two quarters. Jala Holloman finished the night with 17 points and six assists. Carleigh German played well of the bench scoring 10 points. The Chargers will play their last regular season game on Friday against Greenfield.

J.H. Rose 53, C.B. Aycock 36

Abbey Thomas scored 10 points, but the Golden Falcons dropped a game against J.H. Rose. Taylor Gay and Katlyn Parrish each scored six points, and Kaitlyn Smith, Sharon Moorefield and Jada Spurill all contributed four points.

C.B. Aycock 71,J.H. Rose 62

After losing three straight games, the Golden Falcons have now won their past two contests. Charles Walker was C.B. Aycock’s leading scorer with 19 points. Trever Reid scored 14 points, while Mike Williams and Josh Gooding each scored 11 points.

Omarreyon Johson had a team-high 20 points as the Golden Falcons beat J.H. Rose 40-35. Ashton Perinzeni scored 12 points, while Quentavous Barnes contributed four points.

Tamia Myers six-point effort helped C.B. Aycock beat J.H. Rose 18-16.
