Wayne Christian dominates John Paul II
Will White went 1-1 with a home run and one RBI as the Eagles soared over John Paul II. Addison Johnson hit a single, a triple and had two RBIs, Davis Byrd was 1-1 with one RBI and a double, while Bailey Woods went 1-2 from the plate with a double and an RBI. Corbett Schaefer had two RBIs.

Cal Reese went 2-3 with two doubles and five RBIs as Faith Christian rolled past New Bern Christian 14-0. Cooper Voeller was 2-3 with a double, Silas Hill went 2-2 from the plate with a double and two RBIs. Hayden Voeller was 2-2 with one RBI, Daniel Thompson went 2-3 with two RBIs and a triple, while Caleb Heath had an RBI.
Southern Wayne 9, Goldsboro 3
The Saints charged past the Cougars 9-3 on Monday night. Senior Kelly Dail led the charge going 4-4 with two RBIs, Dawn Anderson was 2-4 with two doubles, while Mackenzie Bryan was 2-3 with an RBI triple. Anderson also got the win on the mound with 10 strikeouts. The Saints play New Bern tomorrow.

Prep boys’ tennis
Wayne Country won a close one against Parrott Academy 5-4. Sam Dively won his match 6-1, 6-0, and Alec Fritzinger won 6-0, 6-0. Parrott’s Jeff Bland beat Charlie Dees 7-5, 6-4 (10-5), but Michael Geer won 1-6, 6-6 (8-6), (10-6). Max Young won 6-4, 6-3, but Parrott’s Beau Holmes beat Peter Ye 7-7 (7-2), 7-5. In the doubles matches, Dively and Dees lost 4-8, Fritzinger and Young won 8-2, but Geer and Cam Gerrard lost 5-8.

The Golden Falcons scored two goals in the first half and one in the second half to topple the Warriors 3-0. Hanna Spier scored two goals, while Colleen Jones scored one goal. Kayla Spier and Dulce Luna each had one assist. The Golden Falcons take on D.H. Conley tonight.

In a hard fought game by both teams, the Eagles scored in the last three minutes to win their season opener 1-0 against John Paul II. Leslie Wells scored the game-winning goal, Jamia Waters had the assist, while Kaylee Martin and Waters played great on defense. The Eagles host Davidson Day on Friday.
