Cougars take care of business against Neuse Charter

Goldsboro got its first win of the season by dominating Neuse Charter 17-1 on the baseball diamond. Josh Hartsfield get the win on the mound, while Brody Morton got the save. Peyton Wilkins went 3-4 with four RBIs, Natorian Nobles also went 3-4 with three RBIs, while Matthew Lewis was 3-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Cameron Roux went 2-2 with two RBIs, while Hartsfield had two hits in the game. Morton, Lexton Lewis, and Drake Ennis each had one hit in the game.

SouthernWayne 9, Beddingfield 5

Southern Wayne’s varsity softball team defeated Beddingfield 9-5. Freshman Allie lane was 2-2 with a triple, while freshman Layla Rackley was 3-4 with two singles and a triple and three RBIs. Senior Caroline Summerlin was 2-3 with a sacrifice bunt. Dawn Anderson got the win on the mound, she threw 11 strikeouts and only allowed one earned run. The Saints play again on Friday at South Central.

Goldsboro 5, North Lenoir 0 (Tuesday)

Goldsboro started its season with a 5-0 win over North Lenoir. The Cougars were led by Hannah Williams, who scored three goals. Rylie Hales and Sierra Stephens each scored a goal, while Katie Wagner and Mills Hancock each had an assist.
