Chargers dominant in season opener
In a dominant performance, Langley Barnes scored five goals as the Chargers toppled Faith Christian 6-0. Hayden Nielsen scored one goal, while Macy Floyd had three assists. Lexi Jeffreys and Ashton Gupton each had one assist.
New Bern 11, Eastern Wayne 3
Drew Barnes went 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs, while Ryan Sullivan went 2-2 with an RBI as the Warriors drop a game against New Bern.
Fike 11, Southern Wayne 4 (Wednesday)
Southern Wayne dropped a road contest against Fike 11-4. Matthew Kornegay went 2-3 at the plate and scored one run, while Dylan Whitley and Luke Davis each hit a double. The Saints are 0-3 overall and play at South Central today. First pitch is 5 p.m.
New Bern 10, C.B. Aycock 4 (Wednesday)
The Golden Falcons dropped to 0-2 overall after losing a game to New Bern 10-4. Freshman Austin Booth went 2-4 with two RBIs, while Noah Overton went 2-3 with two doubles and tossed nine strikeouts in five innings of work. Jakob Prebe went 1-2 with two hits and two RBIs. C.B. Aycock next plays J.H. Rose today. First pitch is 5 p.m.

Princeton 6, North Lenoir 2 (Wednesday)
The Bulldogs opened their season with a 6-2 win against North Lenoir. Junior Veronica Blackman scored four goals and one assist, while Rachel Creech scored one goal and one assist. Adriana Gonzalez scored one goal, and Morgan Fields dished out two assists. Jamie Hernandez had two saves. The Bulldogs (1-0 overall) play Beddingfield on Saturday in The Brittany Memorial played at the Gillette Athletic Complex. The game starts at 9:30 a.m.

Wayne Country Day 9, Faith Christian 0
The Chargers zapped Faith Christian 9-0 on the tennis court. Same Dively and Alec Fritzinger both won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Charlie Dees won 6-1, 6-3, while Michael Geer won 6-4, 3-6, (10-7). Max Young won 6-1, 6-1 and rounding out the singles matches Peter Ye won 6-0, 6-3. In the doubles matches, Dively and Dees won 8-2, Fritzinger and Young won 8-0, while Geer and Cam Gerrard won 8-1.
Eastern Wayne 6, South Central 3
The Warriors improved from last week’s match against D.H. Conley, as Eastern Wayne beat South Central 6-3. Dylan March won 6-0, 6-0, but South Central’s Camden Turner beat Tyler de la Motte lost 6-1, 6-2. The Falcons’ Kunj Patel beat Ahnaf Hussain lost 6-4, 6-3. John Davis won his match 6-3, 6-2, while Alex Thomas won 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3). South Central’s Riley King beat Anthony King 6-2, 6-0. Eastern Wayne won all three of its doubles matches, March and de la Motte won 8-0, Davis and Thomas won 8-1, while Hussain and King won 8-0. The Warriors are 1-1 play C.B. Aycock on Tuesday. Matches start at 4 p.m.

Christopher Crow went 2-2 from the plate with three RBIs and a double as the Golden Falcons flew over the Bears 16-2. Chase Hare went 3-4 with three RBIs, and a double, Cullen Tucker went 1-2 with an RBI and a triple, while Hunter Theriac went 2-3 with an RBI. Carson Gipson and D.J. Madrigal both went 1-3 at the plate and an RBI.
