Reese powers Faith past Bethel, 6-2

The Conquerors won their third game in a row with a big 6-2 victory against rival Bethel Christian. Faith Christian was led by Cal Reese who nailed two home runs, had three RBIs. Daniel Thompson finished the night a perfect 3-3 from the plate with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Jackson Freeman also hit a double, while Reese also got the win on the mound. He pitched six and one-third innings, gave up one run and threw nine strikeouts. The surging Conquerors are now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Faith Christian hosts Wilmington Christian on Tuesday.

Goldsboro 3, Clinton 2

In a thriller, Goldsboro beat Clinton 3-2. Clinton scored on an unearned run in the top of the first inning. The in the bottom of the first, Matthew Lewis led off with a single, stole second base, and scored when Josh Hartsfield the ball to center field. Hartsfield later scored on error. In the top of the seventh. Clinton tied the game on an unearned run to make score 2-2. In the Bottom seventh, Brody Morton drove a pitch off the center field fence for a double. Peyton Wilkins followed with a drive to the same spot for a game-winning double. Hartsfield also got the win on the mound. He threw eight strikeouts, zero walks, and three hits.

C.B. Aycock 6, South Central 5

C.B. Aycock scored five runs in three innings and held on for a 6-5 victory against South Central. Blake Dilda went 2-4 with two RBIs and pitched five innings, giving up four runs and throwing nine strikeouts, while Clay Matthew went 1-3 with an RBI and a triple. Davis Carrol was 1-3 with two RBIs, and Ty Smith had an RBI. Rowan Watt hit a double.

Spring Creek 13, James Kenan 3

The Gators got their first win of the season with victory versus James Kenan. Jordan Ammons was 3-3 from the plate with a double and two RBIs. Andrew Crumpler and Cole Honeycutt both went 1-4 with two RBIs, while Robert Strickland had two RBIs. Will Ervin and Douglas Davidson each finished with an RBI. Campbell Cunningham was 2-2 from the plate with an RBI. Landon Smothers got the win on the mound. He pitched five innings, gave up three runs and tossed six strikeouts. Ammons got the save by pitching one inning.

D.H. Conley 8, Southern Wayne 2

Dylan Whitley and Matthew Kornegay each scored a run, Justin Edwards had an RBI, and Drew Cox hit a double, but Southern Wayne dropped a game against D.H. Conley.

Faith Christian (RM) 10, Wayne Country Day 0

Caleb Brewer had the Chargers lone hit in Wayne Country Day’s 10-0 loss against Faith Christian.

C.B. Aycock 5, South Central 2

Hannah Spier scored three goals, and the Golden Falcons flew over South Central 5-3. Colleen Jones and Kayla Spier each scored one goal.

Princeton 4, Greene Central 1 (Thursday)

The Bulldogs stayed hot with a 4-1 against Greene Central. Veronica Blackman scored two goals and had one assist, while Rachel Creech and Kiana Brewton each scored one goal. Esbeydy Bautista had one assist. In their past two games, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 9-2. Princeton is now 5-1 overall and travels to North Duplin on Tuesday.

South Central 8, C.B. Aycock 2

Logan Medlin went 2-3 from the plate with a home run, while Abbey Thomas was 2-3 with a double, but Golden Falcons loss to South Central 8-2. Taylor Gay was 1-2 with a double. Marie Kidd pitched four innings, gave up eight runs, 11 hits, three walks and tossed two strikeouts. Shawna Williams pitched one inning, gave one hit and zero runs, while Brianna Martin pitched one inning, gave zero runs and zero hits. The Golden Falcons are 6-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
