Golden Falcons win first of season
Charles B. Aycock girls’ varsity basketball team snapped a five game losing streak by beating Princeton 31-27 on Tuesday night. Katlyn Parrish led the Golden Falcons with eight points. Abbey Thomas scored seven points, while Kaitlyn Smith and Taylor Gay each scored six points. The Golden Falcons (1-5 overall) will play Hunt at home on Thursday. Tipoff is 6:30 p.m.
Prep girls’ basketball Spring Creek 35, North Duplin 26
Belinda Carson scored 19 points, while Makiya Hobbs scored 13 to lift Spring Creek over North Duplin 35-26 on Tuesday night. Samantha Beavers led North Duplin with 11 points, Jamilyn Wallace scored seven points and Jackie Funez scored six points.
Prep boys’ basketball Princeton 82, C.B. Aycock 77 (OT2)
Alijuan Moore scored 21 points, but the Golden Falcons lost a double-overtime thriller against Princeton, 82-77. Charles Walker scored 17 points, while Jaylan Robinson and Josh Gooding both scored 10 points. C.B. Aycock (1-5 overall) next plays Hunt at home on Thursday.
Spring Creek 68, North Duplin 44
Tyrese Artis scored 25 points as Spring Creek toppled North Duplin 68-44 on Tuesday night. Demantae Bizzell scored 18 points and Landon Smothers scored 14 points for Spring Creek. DJ Simmons led North Duplin with 15 points, and Armone Anders was close behind with 14 points.
Prep boys’ JV basketball C.B. Aycock 73, Princeton 55
Ashton Perinzeni’s 17 point effort helped C.B. Aycock beat Princeton 73-55 on Tuesday evening. Omarreyon scored 15 points, Quentavous Barnes scored 14 points, Jamari McClarin scored 11 points and hit three three-pointers.
