Rosewood running back Terquavius Butler made it official on Friday that he is joining North Carolina Wesleyan College when he signed his national letter of intent.
Wesleyan College is a Division III college that competes in the USA South Athletic Conference in athletics along with Methodist University, Greensboro College, Meredith College, William Peace University and 14 schools across North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.
In 2021, Butler was tasked with helping to fill in for the loss of Avante George, and even though Butler shared the backfield with David Lamm, he still put up impressive numbers.
In seven regular-season games, Butler rushed for 700 rushing yards and scored 10 rushing touchdowns.
Butler’s play on the field not only led to a boost in his individual stats, but he also helped the Eagles win their second Carolina 1A Conference title in three seasons.
Butler said he still isn’t satisfied with where his game is at, and he continues to work hard to improve his skills and conditioning.
“I feel like I can do better than what I did in high school. I’ve been practicing on the field, and I’ve been working on my game”, Butler said.

The Eagles running back, who wasn’t used much in the passing game at Rosewood, catching only three passes for 10 yards, said he hopes to be given an opportunity to show off his catching ability in college.
“With my speed and my hands, I’m versatile. I can move all around,” Butler said. “Anywhere the coach puts me, if that’s what we need to do to win, I’m going to do it.”
Butler also said that he was thankful for Rosewood head coach Robert Britt and his teammates for making his time at Rosewood enjoyable.
“The past three years I have been here have been fun and great times. We’ve had some ups and downs, but that comes with (football),” Butler said. “I thank coach Britt for taking care of me and coaching me these past three years. It’s been amazing (playing for him). He got on us in the weight room, but at the end of the day, it produces the outcome (we want).”
His father, Terry Butler, and his mother, Nicole Hocutt, attended the signing at the Rosewood High School gymnasium.
Butler says that while at N.C. Wesleyan College, he plans to major in physical therapy.
