SUMTER, S.C. — The No. 1 seeded Mount Olive Trojans fell 4-3 to the No. 2 Saints of Limestone College on Sunday afternoon in the Championship Match of the Conference Carolinas Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

Women’s tennis

SUMTER, S.C. — The No. 4 Mount Olive Trojans fell to the No. 2 Lions of Emmanuel College 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in the Championship match of the 2019 Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. Ece Yuksel and Arianna Orozco earned places on the All-Tournament team for their performances throughout the tournament.

HIGH POINT — Off the court, the University of Mount Olive claimed two major honors and placed three women’s tennis student-athletes on the 2019 Conference Carolinas first and third teams. Lina Maria Alarcon of the University of Mount Olive women’s tennis team brought home the Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year awards at the 2019 men’s and women’s tennis banquet. Alarcon earned first-team all-conference honors following a stellar season on the court for the Trojans after going 14-4 in singles (No. 2) and 13-6 in doubles (No. 1). Romero went undefeated in conference action and closed the regular season on a 10-game win streak. She is the first Player of the Year for UMO since the 2004-05 season when Lucia Henkle was named POY and she is the first recipient of the Freshman of the Year award for the UMO women’s tennis program. Joining Alarcon on the first team is Arianna Orozco, while Deike Schipper ffound a spot on the all-conference third-team.

Track and field

CENTRAL, S.C. — The University of Mount Olive men’s and women’s track & field team won the 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday in Central, S.C. The Championship is the sixth consecutive in both programs’ history.

Women’s lacrosse

MOUNT OLIVE — The No. 23 Mount Olive Trojans fell to the No. 12 Limestone College Saints 12-9 in the Conference Carolinas Championship match on Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex in Mount Olive, N.C. Jordan Shughrue led the Trojans with a hat trick as the Trojans made a strong run in the second half to contend for the Championship title.

Men’s lacrosse

MOUNT OLIVE — The University of Mount Olive Men’s Lacrosse team placed seven on the 2019 All-Conference Carolinas teams. Jacob Williams was also named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year. Connor Watson, Thatcher Clark, Jacob Williams, Andrew Avarello, and Brady Elbin were named to the first-team, while Gunner Parson and Austin Peper were named to the second-team.

Baseball

MOUNT OLIVE — The University of Mount Olive Baseball placed four on the 2019 All-Conference Carolinas teams. Reed Parris was also named the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award Winner for having the highest GPA at the championship. JT Stone and Joe Mason were named to the first-team, while Gunner Tolston and Reed Parris were named to the second-team.
