North Johnston 6, Eastern Wayne 1
Eastern Wayne fell in the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A State playoffs on Monday night to a strong North Johnston team.
North Johnston opened up the scoring early on the first half of Monday night’s game to take a 1-0 lead. The Panthers let the Warriors back in the game though by scoring an own goal to tie the game 1-1.
After the defensive mistake, the Panthers once again found their rhythm and they scored three more times in the first half to take a 4-1 halftime lead before they ultimately came out on top with a 6-1 victory.
Goldsboro 2, Granville Central 1
As the 22nd seed, Goldsboro can expect to be on the road for most of their playoff run, which was the case on Monday night when they traveled to Stem to face Granville Central.
Goldsboro was up to the task though, and they won 2-1 in the first round of the NCHSAA 2A state playoffs.
Cape Fear 5, Charles B. Aycock 2
The Cape Fear Colts defeated the Charles B. Aycock Golden Falcons in 5-2 in a game that was much closer than the score showed.
Both teams started off the first half by trading goal-for-goal, and at halftime Cape Fear held a small 3-2 lead. In the second half, Cape Fear scored two more goals and held the Golden Falcons scoreless to come away with a 5-2 victory in the first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A State playoffs Monday.

Raleigh Charter 9, Spring Creek 0
The Spring Creek Gators fell to the Raleigh Charter Phoenix 9-0 on Monday night in the first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A State playoffs in game that was all Phoenix from the start.
Raleigh Charter started off the game on fire offensively and jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead before coming away with a 9-0 lead at the end of regulation.
East Bladen 3, Princeton 0
The Princeton Bulldogs fell 3-0 to the East Bladen Eagles in a game that started off as a defensive battle.
Defenses for both teams came out ready to play in Monday night’s NCHSAA 2A State playoff game and at halftime, both offenses were held scoreless. The East Bladen came out with a new fire in the second half and the Eagles scored three goals to take a 3-0 victory.
Vance Charter 3, Rosewood 1
Like the Cougars, the Rosewood Eagles, which earned the 21st seed in the N.C. High School 1A State playoffs, can also expect to be on the road for most of their playoff journey.
The Eagles playoff journey ended after the first round as they fell to Vance Charter in Henderson 3-1 on Monday night.
